Innovation
Terminix’s mosquito treatment, Attractive Targeted
Sugar Bait (ATSB), is unique because its ingredients
are orange juice and date juice combined with garlic
oil, and it doesn’t contain any toxic pesticides.
“Mosquitoes are increasingly becoming a potential
world health threat,” said Stan Cope, director,
entomology and regulatory services, Terminix.
“This unique formula takes advantage of a basic
evolutionary behavior – the need for sugar to survive –
but it also delivers a lethal dose of microencapsulated
garlic oil. The Terminix bait-and-kill approach is
enabling homeowners to safely and effectively
control mosquito populations in their own backyards.”
Mergers and Acquisitions
ServiceMaster’s strategic growth plan includes a focus on
building a bigger footprint. Terminix grew in Canada by
acquiring the assets of Excel Pest Control and Cabot Pest
Control. It also acquired the assets of other established
wildlife control companies including Atlanta Pest Control
and Bug Busters in the United States. In addition, in 2015,
Terminix acquired some of the assets of Alterra Pest Control,
making it one of our largest acquisitions, which added more
than 300 full-time employees in 22 branches across 15
states. “Expanding our footprint will continue to be a growth
engine for Terminix and ServiceMaster,” said Bill Derwin,
president, Terminix. “We will continue to drive our organic
growth, add new services and make strategic acquisitions.
This will allow us to leverage our technical expertise,
marketing strength and systems to provide value to new
and existing customers.”
