LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
It was a great honor for me to become AARP’s
President in June 2014. In this role, I serve as
our Association’s principal national volunteer
spokesperson and meet with many people, including
AARP members around the country.
Their stories remind me how essential it is
to have a purpose in life, whether its vol-
unteering, returning to school, launching
a business, helping out family members or
pursuing some other passion. In my travels,
I also am reminded that many older Amer-
icans are struggling financially. They too
seek purpose and meaning, but face urgent
concerns about paying the bills.
Part of what makes AARP unique is that it
provides support on all these fronts, whether
that’s advocacy for a strong Social Securi-
ty program, lobbying states for workplace
savings plans, opening doors to personal ful-
fillment through Life Reimagined or another
of our many efforts.
The pages of this report are filled with per-
sonal stories of our members—tales I find
inspiring. In my two-year term, I will do all I
can to help our Association serve as a valued
partner in helping members build lives that
are secure and fulfilling.
No ones possibilities should be limited by
their age.
