EXPLORING LIFE’S NEW POSSIBILITIES
Life Reimagined is a key strategy to delivering on AARP’s personal
fulfillment goals. An affiliate of AARP, Life Reimagined provides a
personal guidance system to help people navigate transitions and
live their lives to the fullest.
Reimagining her life in her 70s inspired Zif
Berry, a retired Texas school administrator,
to help others navigate major life transitions.
When Berry lost her husband in 2011, her
days grew quiet and her beloved home near
Austin was too much to manage. She needed
a change, so she moved to Tennessee to live
with her daughter and grandchildren.
The longtime AARP volunteer leaped at
the opportunity to create a local presence for
Life Reimagined by training other volunteers
to lead small-group checkup” discussions.
As a result, Berry helped make it possible
for more than 60,000 people to participate in
415 local Life Reimagined checkups. Par-
ticipants discussed their lives, how they felt
during certain milestones and where they
hope to go in the coming years.
“It’s electrifying to help people reflect on
their lives and sketch out a road map for
enjoying what’s next,” she said. “The possi-
bilities are endless.
