2003
5
ANNUAL
REPORT
in San Francisco, which resulted in widespread coverage
in both trade and mainstream magazines; major events
that attracted unprecedented media coverage for the
launch of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell™; and pre-Christmas
product events like the one in France that showcased 25 of
our games and attracted more than 100 journalists.
Onward and upward
Looking forward, our targets for the 2003/04 fiscal year are
more ambitious than ever.We aim to:
1. Ensure that the industry’s best and brightest want to work
at our studios: How? By supporting the people who are
already with us, and attracting others who have the skills
necessary to help us grow.
2. Create new brands: The action/adventure genre will
get a new creative twist this year with the release of
Beyond Good & Evil™ and Prince of Persia The Sands
of Time™.XIII and Far Cry will take us one step closer
to conquering the first-person shooter genre. We want
at least two of these four games to break new sales
records during the year.
3. Build our Tom Clancy franchise over the long term:
We’re already off to an amazing start with three titles
at the forefront of our 2003/04 offering: Tom Clancy’s
Rainbow Six® 3,Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon™: Island
Thunder and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell™: Pandora
Tomorrow.
4. Advance our leading online position, particularly for
online consoles. Ubisoft will increasingly develop games
that provide access to exclusive downloadable console
content, including new missions and maps.
5. Continue gaining ground with our MMO games.
6. Offer gaming experiences that rival the best Hollywood
movies.
7. Break new fiscal records: We aim to increase total net
revenue by 17% to 22% in constant exchange rate terms,
increase operating results to at least 45 million (US
GAAP) thanks to improved studio and business structure
profitability and generate positive cash flow of at least
40 million.
Our focus on the player will help us to achieve each of these
objectives as well as move forward with our long-term strategy.
With each step we take, we seek to invite players to free their
imaginations, test their reflexes and challenge their minds.
Whatever their choice of platform or genre, more players are
accepting our invitation every day.
Now, with all eyes already focused on the new year and
beyond, let me take this opportunity to thank our shareholders,
business associates and financial partners for the confidence
they have expressed in Ubisoft throughout the years.
I would also like to thank the people at Ubisoft who have made
our company the major industry force that it is.Their combined
talent, creativity and energy are shaping the interactive
entertainment industry of tomorrow – today!
