den’s Business System
Synergies & Scale
Through Jarden’s scale and scope, our businesses have been able to deliver both top- and bottom-line
synergies and scale. This ranges from access to better terms for input costs, transportation, distribution
and marketing, to the sharing of facilities. Additionally, businesses have access to improved intelligence
and best practices for product innovation, supply chain initiatives, raw material pricing, manufacturing,
and retailer best practices and relationships.
The Council Approach leverages expertise within the business units to make
purchasing decisions for the benet of all of Jarden, without the cost of having a signicant corporate supply
chain team. Beyond cost, the bottoms-up council approach gives authority to the experts in a variety of
spending areas so that the “best” decisions can be made based on metrics such as quality and service, versus
considering cost above all other criteria. Jarden’s councils provide advice and direction on opportunities
across Jarden’s business and take advantage of the Company’s scale to negotiate what we believe is the
best outcome for us and our customers. Councils focus on all areas of cost including: raw materials, sourcing,
distribution, R&D, OEM, suppliers, technology, marketing and advertising.
Below is a representative sample of the growth and continued maturation of Jarden’s council approach.
