Review of Operations
A digital, multifunctional color printing
machine that enables electronic filing of
color documents and other applications.
Simply by reading documents the
machine can automatically create
PDF files with clear and easy to read
text images, and in a size compressed
to just one tenth of the usual volume,
thanks to the addition of the new
ClearWrite PDF function.

The first color laser printer in the industry
that can cope with secure printing of data
transferred through SSL (Secure Sockets
Layer) encryption. The product features
high-speed printing with an output of 35
color pages (A4 size by horizontal line) per
minute, the highest in this class, promising
high production efficiency in the mass
printing of color documents, such as
leaflets, catalogues, and reports.

Performance
Our sales promotions in the Printing Systems
area, in response to customer needs, led to a
24.6% increase in total sales compared to
the previous fiscal year.
In the Other Input/Output Systems
area, however, sales in the optical disc drive
business were stagnant, resulting in a 10.1%
drop from the previous fiscal year.
Accordingly, the total sales of the entire
Network Input/Output Systems segment
increased 20.5% from the previous fiscal year,
reaching ¥558.2 billion ($5,368 million).
Highlights
We launched new MFPs products that meet
the demand for higher speeds, networking,
and color printing. The imagio Neo
352/452 and imagio Neo C385/C325
MFPs were highly rated by customers in
Japan, as were the Aficio 2035/2045 and
Aficio 1224C/1232C overseas. Sales of the
IPSiO NX85S and IPSiO CX7200 laser
printers increased in Japan, and those of
the AP400/400N and Aficio CL3000
increased overseas.
The IPSiO G707/G505 low-end
business color printers, which use a new
GELJET technology (a technology that
outstrips inkjet) were also put on the
market. Lineups of color products were also
upgraded to meet the needs of a wider
range of customers.

In the California office of the Anaheim Angels baseball team, which won
the 2002 World Series Championship, Aficio and color multifunction
printers are used by the staff of each section of the stadium.
