WE DONATE YOUTH ATVS, SIDE-BY-SIDES AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT TO THE BOY SCOUTS
OF AMERICA SO THEY CAN PROVIDE PREMIERE OFF-ROAD SAFETY CLASSES THAT
CULTIVATE YOUNG SAFETY AMBASSADORS FOR THE SPORT.
Q: What else are you doing to promote
environmental stewardship?
A: We donate dollars and volunteers to maintain and
improve o-road vehicle trails through partnerships
with the National Forest Foundation, and with many
o-road clubs and associations. If trails are well
maintained, clearly marked and easy to use, riders
are more likely to stay on trails. This reduces potential
damage to the natural habitat. At our facilities, we
reduce our environmental impact through robust
recycling programs for paper, plastics, cardboard
andmetals.
Q: Guiding Principles can either be a platitude or an
attitude. Which are they at Polaris?
A: Scott starts out every management meeting by
reviewing the Guiding Principles: Best Team/Best
People, Safety & Ethics Always, and Customer Loyalty.
I think that tells you how important they are.
Q: How are you reinforcing safety?
A: Most Polaris employees are passionate riders, so we
recognize firsthand the critical importance of safety
from significantly reducing our plant employee injury
rates to making the highest quality products for our
customers. One of the programs we’re most proud
of is our partnership with the Boy Scouts of America.
In 2014, we began a 10-year partnership to provide
youth ATVs, side-by-sides and safety equipment to
select Boy Scout camps across the country. Jointly,
we developed a program that introduces Scouts to
o-roading with an emphasis on safety, responsible
riding and respect for the environment.
