(a) Operating expenses include Cost of services; Cost of products sold; Selling, general and administrative; Reimbursable

(f) Domestic active card accounts on file include bankcard and retail accounts that had a balance or any monetary posting or
authorization activity during the last month of the quarter.

(h) Domestic merchant transactions include acquired VISA and MasterCard credit and signature debit, PIN-debit, electronic
benefits transactions, and processed-only or gateway customer transactions at the point of sale (“POS”). Domestic
merchant transactions include 100% of the Chase Paymentech Solutions alliance transactions in 2007 and through the
November 1, 2008 termination date. Subsequent to the termination of the alliance, domestic merchant transactions
include transactions related to the Company’s 49% proportionate share of the alliance’s assets rather than 100% of
alliance activity. In addition, domestic merchant transactions include activity for JPMorgan Chase merchants that
continue to process on the Company’s platforms. The domestic merchant transactions continue to reflect all Wells Fargo
Merchant Services alliance transactions despite the deconsolidation of the alliance effective December 31, 2008.
Domestic merchant transactions for 2009 also include all of the transactions related to merchants contributed by Bank of
America to the Banc of America Merchant Services alliance since the alliance was formed on June 26, 2009.
(i) Domestic debit issuer transactions include VISA and MasterCard signature debit, STAR ATM, STAR PIN-debit POS
and ATM and PIN-debit POS gateway transactions.
(j) International transactions include VISA, MasterCard and other card association merchant acquiring and switching, and
debit issuer transactions for clients outside the U.S. Transactions include credit, signature debit and PIN-debit POS, POS
gateway and ATM transactions.
