ITEM 6. SELECTED FINANCIAL DATA
The following data should be read in conjunction with the Consolidated Financial Statements and related
notes thereto and Management’s Discussion and Analysis of Financial Condition and Results of Operations
included elsewhere in this annual report.
The Notes to the Consolidated Financial Statements contain additional information about various
acquisitions, dispositions, and certain charges and benefits resulting from other operating expenses, and other
income (expense) which affect the comparability of information presented. Certain prior years’ amounts have
been reclassified to conform to the current year presentation.
On September 24, 2007, the Company was acquired through a merger transaction (the “merger”) with an
entity controlled by affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. The merger resulted in the equity of FDC
becoming privately held. Details of the merger are more fully discussed in Note 2 to the Consolidated Financial
Statements included in Item 8 of this Form 10-K. As a result of the merger, amounts below are presented for two
periods: predecessor and successor, which primarily relate to the periods preceding the merger and the periods
succeeding the merger, respectively.
The Company classified Western Union, Primary Payment Systems, IDLogix and Taxware as discontinued
operations in 2006 and 2005 has been reclassified from historically reported results to reflect the impact.
Amounts below include acquisitions since the date acquired. All results are in millions, or as otherwise noted.
In 2008, the Company changed to a classified balance sheet presentation. Balance sheet data for 2007 and
2006 have been adjusted to conform to this presentation.
