INNOVATION IN LEGACY PRODUCT LINES
Cobra radar detectors outsell the competition by a three to one margin and Cobra’s commitment to leadership in this
legacy product line continues. In 2006, the Company introduced Extreme Bright DataGrafix™, the first-ever full-color
LED display in a radar detector, an innovation providing easy-to-read menus and alert screens. Cobra’s XRS 9830 and
XRS 9930 product sales were phenomenal in 2006 with increased placement at major retail outlets. Further, Cobra’s
innovation in the category transformed the potential for the entire industry, increasing the number of detection
units sold in 2006. This larger, organically grown market category, combined with Cobra’s significant lead in radar
detection market share, netted excellent results for the Company in this category in 2006.
With booming sales and consumer preference at a high mark, Cobra’s research and development in radar detection
continued moving forward in 2006. At the January 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show, Cobra premiered
more innovations for detection with its XRS R7 and XRS R9G models. The Company is the first to market with an
easy-to-install wireless remote controlled radar/laser detector with GPS locator. A new sleek design makes this new
device virtually invisible while still detecting the fastest radar and laser guns, including POP mode.
Both units feature a wireless main detector unit and a remote control display unit. The XRS R9G offers the added
benefit of a GPS locator—the first of its kind in the United States to be paired with a radar detector. The locator
includes a fixed red light and speed camera location database. Both the GPS locator and main radar/laser detector
unit mount behind the rearview mirror at the top of the windshield reducing the unit’s visibility and improving its
detection range.
2006 ANNUAL REPORT
Cobra unveiled the first lithium-ion high powered
radio in 2006. The latest models in the 2007
product lineup premiered at the International
Consumer Electronics Show in January 2007.
Consumers know an excellent value when
they find it and the XRS 9930 fits that bill
as the best selling model in the industry,
despite being one of the higher priced
products in the category. From a value
standpoint, the consumer’s choice was
clear — Nothing Comes Close to a Cobra®.
