(2) In fiscal year 2006 we used the equity method of accounting to reflect our share of Spansion’s net loss. In September 2007, as a result of our loss of the
ability to exercise significant influence over Spansion, we ceased applying the equity method of accounting and began accounting for this investment as
“available-for-sale” marketable securities under FASB Statement No. 115, Accounting for Certain Investments in Debt and Equity Securities. We recorded
impairment charges of $69 million and $42 million in the quarters ended December 29 and September 29, respectively.
(3) Includes write off of in-process research and development expense acquired as a result of the ATI acquisition.
(4) Includes amortization of acquired intangible assets and other charges incurred to integrate the operations of ATI.
(5) Represents an impairment taken on ATI goodwill and acquired intangible assets.
(6) Tax benefit in the fourth quarter of 2007 represents a reversal of deferred U.S. taxes related to indefinite-lived goodwill.
