14 Annual Report 2009
Release of Next Generation Kiosk
Terminals That Can Be Utilized in a
Variety of Applications
OKI has commenced sales of Next Generation
Kiosk terminals featuring excellent operability,
functionality and expandability. The chassis is
compact with a common platform and basic
devices, and enables customers to add optional
units such as 2D barcode readers and document
readers. As a result, by selecting optional units
to meet particular onsite functions, this flexibility
enables customers to configure settings
according to the usage, such as information
search, appointment reservation, membership
registration, award point management.
Development of MA8200Air VoIP Bulletin
Terminals with Wireless LAN function and
Outdoor Loudspeakers for VoIP Bulletin System
OKI has developed MA8200Air VoIP Bulletin
Terminals with wireless LAN function and Outdoor
Loudspeakers as part of its new VoIP bulletin
systems lineup for the dissemination of emergency
notices and two-way communications with people
who are at home during disasters.
A wireless LAN card mounted on the MA8200Air
allows Internet access to residents in areas without
broadband via non-personal computer Internet
accessible devices, such as mobile game consoles.
OKI’s Outdoor Loudspeakers utilize know-how
cultivated over many years. In addition, this product
can be substituted into older municipal governments’
radio communication systems in accordance with the
areas’ information transmission platforms.
OKI provides its FSE™ Face Sensing
Middleware to the Nintendo DSi™
OKI’s FSE (Face Sensing Engine), a middleware /
hardware IP for embedding purposes is now
mounted to the main body of Nintendo’s game
console, Nintendo DSi, becoming a standard
feature of this product.
FSE is used in Nintendo DSi as a face sensing
engine to detect human faces in photos and
video images, to extract particular facial
features, such as the eyes and mouth, and to
enable personal identification through faces. It
is used with the “Nintendo DSi camera,” a
game software using photos taken with the
internal camera to identify similarities between
two people and composite two faces.

machines—to the travel and transport industry. For other industries, OKI provides a wide range of
information communication solutions, including companies’ mission-critical and production

Hereafter, OKI will actively develop the core technologies that constitute its strengths in order to
bolster its earnings platform. In addition to the mainstay USCOS®cash handling equipment for the
retail industry, OKI is furthering the development of Next Generation Kiosk Terminals leveraging its
mechatronics technologies for use in Japan and overseas, deliver new air traffic control systems,
