socially responsible. By 2020, LOréal is committed to ensuring that
100% of its new products provide an environmental or social benefit,
in a way that is quantifiable, measurable and verifiable.

By 2020, we will empower
every L’Oréal consumer to make
sustainable consumption choices.
In 2020, LOréal will communicate the environ-
mental and social profile of its products in
every country, so that consumers are able to
judge for themselves and thus make enlight-
ened consumption choices. The environmen-
tal and social performance of a product has
to become a factor that is just as crucial as its
quality, efficacy and safety.

Initiative: LOréal laboratories
work to formulate shampoos that can
be rinsed off with only one litre of water,
instead of the seven litres required today.
In all, it could achieve a reduction of
three quarters in the quantity of water
used, and a two-thirds cut in CO2
emissions over the whole life cycle
of the shampoo.
