Huawei believes that the power of information
communications can transcend the boundary of economies,
society, and regions. We are committed to popularizing
communications technologies, increasing educational
opportunities, and developing ICT talent. We actively join our
partners, promote sustainable development, contribute to
local communities, and enrich life through communication.
The following provides an overview of Huawei's major
social contribution activities in 2011:
India
Huawei continued the E-Hope initiative
to enable students from underdeveloped
regions to gain equal access to the latest
information and knowledge.
Thailand
Huawei contributed cash, goods,
and equipment to assist the Thai
government in resolving the ood
situation in many regions.
China
1. Huawei cooperated with 45
universities in China and continued
to provide scholarships and faculty
fellowships to support academic
development.
2. Huawei made donations to the
earthquake-stricken area of Yingjiang,
Yunnan.
3. Huawei supported the activities of
the "Care Association" for charitable
donations.
Japan
Huawei employees offered disaster relief
assistance in response to the earthquake
and tsunami, deploying equipment and
emergency solutions to help restore
communication networks.
Kazakhstan
Huawei provided scholarships to
Kazakhstan International IT University to
develop local ICT talent.
Russia
Huawei donated communications
equipment to Russia's St. Petersburg
State University of Telecommunications.
Poland
Huawei participated in
fundraising activities to
support youth education
and organized volunteers
to care for orphans and the
poor.
Hungary
Huawei cooperated with Hungary's
Economics University and Technology
University and provided scholarships to
the students.
Latvia
Huawei donated
telepresence systems to
improve medical services.
Belarus
Huawei set up a training center in
the National Institute of Advanced
Communication (VGKS) in Belarus and
is establishing a fund to encourage and
support outstanding students.
Malaysia
Huawei launched a program to develop
and train 10,000 ICT professionals in
cooperation with the government of
Malaysia over the next ve years.
Laos
Huawei donated computers and ofce
facilities to the local government
to improve school conditions in
developing regions in northern Laos.
Indonesia
The STEI/ITB/Huawei datacom
IP advanced training center was
completed and inaugurated as a
technical development base oriented
toward school and society, and was
dedicated to the development of local
communications talent.
Cambodia
1. Huawei made cash donations
to the Cambodian Red Cross to
support education programs for the
community and to assist the poor.
2. Huawei donated equipment
and materials to the Cambodian
government as part of rebuilding
efforts after the ood.
Australia
Huawei sponsored local foundations
committed to cancer prevention and
research to support local community
healthcare careers.
