— AIRBUS DEFENCE AND SPACE
The Airbus Defence and Space Division,
created out of the former Cassidian, Astrium and Airbus
Military, aims to deliver enhanced competitiveness, market
presence and performance.
SYNERGIES
The new Divisional structure is expected to generate
signicant operational, cost and sales synergies, which
will boost competitiveness in the years ahead.
As part of the restructuring measures, the Division is
targeting a substantial consolidation of sites across
France, Germany, Spain and the UK. The Division is
targeting a reduction of 5,300 positions, mainly through
voluntary measures and redeployment of affected
employees to other parts of the Group.
The Airbus Defence and Space Division, operational
as of January 2014, brings together a world-leading
portfolio of business assets and expertise.
The new Division is Europe’s number one defence
and space enterprise, the second largest space business
worldwide and among the top ten global defence
enterprises. Created out of the former Divisions
Cassidian and Astrium plus Airbus Military, Airbus Defence
and Space generates sales of around € 14 billion, based
on the 2013 results.
The Division is organised along four business lines which
carry responsibility for bottom-line performance, while being
supported by fully integrated shared functions such as
marketing and sales, procurement, nance and HR.
Military Aircraft is responsible for all xed-wing aircraft,
including combat, transport, mission and unmanned
aerial systems.
Space Systems manages the satellite and launcher
businesses.
Communication, Intelligence and Security (CIS)
brings together competences in communications
technology, including secure satellite communications,
public mobile radio and border security systems.
Electronics represents a centre of excellence for
sub-systems, with the necessary critical size to support
the Division’s other business lines while also acting as a
competitive supplier towards external customers.
OUTLOOK
Going forward, Airbus Defence and Space
expects to generate revenues above € 13 billion,
with increasing A400M deliveries. Due to
a change in accounting rules, the MBDA
participation will be accounted for at equity.
Supported by the restructuring programme,
Airbus Defence and Space is targeting
a return on sales of 8% in 2015, moving
towards 10% beyond.
