The claims ratio expresses the claims, including claims handling expenses, as a percentage of net
premiums earned. The cost ratio expresses the costs as a percentage of net premiums written. The
claims ratio and the cost ratio together form the combined ratio, which, if less than 100%, means
that there was an underwriting profit to be added to income from investments.
CREDIT RATINGS
Credit ratings are indicators for the likelihood of timely and complete repayment of interest and
instalment of fixed-income securities as assigned by rating agencies.
