Patrimonio Hoy
Established in 1998, this award-winning program
combines the global presence of CEMEX’s distribu-
tion centers with the power of microcredit to pro-
vide families with financial and technical assistance
in the construction of their homes. With more than
100 oces in Latin America, Patrimonio Hoy en-
ables families to build or improve their homes more
quickly, more eciently, and with better materi-
als—cement, concrete blocks, and steel—than would
otherwise be possible within their means.
our company’s in-house flagship safety leadership
program, is designed to help us achieve our global
goal of zero incidents by equipping managers at all
levels with the tools, skills, and behavioral standards
required to lead safer, more ecient operations.
Through this and other complementary programs, we
reduced our employee lost-time injury rate (per million
hours worked) to 2.0, down 13% from 2011, under-
scoring our company’s devotion to conducting our
business in a safe and healthy manner.
Collectively—through all of our initiatives—we create
value by building a more agile, more flexible, and more
competitive CEMEX: a global industry leader with the
capabilities to transform the challenges of today into
the new business opportunities of a more sustainable
tomorrow.

Beyond reducing our carbon footprint, we play an
increasingly important role in the communities we
serve. We employ community members, work with
local suppliers, and contribute to the community
through tax payments, social investments, and on-the-
ground programs.
Our goal is to always be a good neighbor and trusted
member of the community. Through our flagship com-
munity initiative, Patrimonio Hoy, we help low-income
families realize their dream of home ownership. During
2012, 42,989 families benefited from Patrimonio Hoy,
bringing the accumulated total to 396,845. Through
such exemplary programs, we engage and develop
strong long-term relationships with key members of
our local communities.
An integral component of our commitment to sus-
tainability is our continuing, company-wide effort to
improve workplace and community safety. We are
committed to identifying and reducing any safety
risks associated with our operations by improving
how we reinforce safe behavior with our employees
and strengthening the accountability of management
for ensuring safe behavior. With this in mind, LEGACY,
