Included in other liquid investments are short-term bank deposits of HK$2,082 million (1999:
HK$1,770 million) and debt securities of HK$455 million (1999: HK$558 million) which are
pledged to lessors as part of long-term financing arrangements. The arrangements provide that
the Group must maintain these deposits and debt securities at specified levels for the duration
of the financing.
