There were no modifications to the share-based payment arrangements in the years 2009, 2008 and 2007. As at 31st December 2009, the total liability
arising from cash-settled share-based payment transactions was £13m (2008: £23m).
In accordance with the scheme rules, all options awarded vested and were exercised by the holders following the disposal of the BGI business on
1st December 2009. The options were all exercised during December 2009.
