Whileourvaluesaremorepowerfulthanever,we’ve
madeprogressthisyearinfocusingmoreoncreativity,
customersandresults—allaimedatsimplifying
ourworkandgivingusacompetitiveadvantage
goingforward.
For2009,we’reinvestingininitiativesthatwillhelp
drivetraffic,deliverinspiringproduct,andenhance
theshoppingexperience.Newstoreprototypesare
underwayateachbrandasweworktomodernizeour
fleet,improveproductivityateachstore,andcreate
distinctproductassortmentsforourcustomers.
AsInotedearlier,productistheendgame.Eachbrand
isfocusedonensuringthatproductisrightforour
customers—fromthestyleandcolor,totheassort-
mentandpricepoint,aswellashowwe’re
merchandisinginstores.
I’mincrediblyproudofwhatwe’veaccomplished
thisyear,andI’mhonoredtobeastewardofthese
brandsandthiscompanyasweenteraperiodof
opportunityandpotentialgrowth.
Withourglobalbrandsandexpandingmarkets,
we’rewellpositionedtoperformbetterthanthe
competitionand,ultimately,gainbackmarketshare.
Werecognizethiswilltakesometime,aswellas
newthinkingandboldmoves.That’sexactlywhat
DorisandDonhadinmind40yearsagowhenthey
openedthefirstGapstore,andtheyremainour
inspirationeachandeveryday.
