The financial crisis left an indelible mark on
investors. Its impact was so significant, in
fact, that it changed the priorities of many—
particularly global institutional investors.
Many institutional investors have moved away
from actively managed core portfolios like
large-cap equities. Instead, they’re focusing
on specialized mandates in segments such as
emerging markets, high-yield investments and
real estate. That shift benefits us because of the
multi-boutique investment manager strategy
put in place by Principal Global Investors more
than a decade ago.
Our multi-boutique approach gives us
a broad range of capabilities—including
specialized strategies like real estate and
alternative investments, as well as asset
allocation solutions and traditional asset
classes. And it makes it easy to add specialties to
meet our clients’ changing needs.
We reach our clients through a global, multi-
channel distribution platform. In addition, we
have investment teams in major money centers
around the world. This globally integrated
approach facilitates investing and allows us to
work with clients worldwide. It’s proven to be
a powerful strategy, as we currently manage
portfolios for investors in nearly 60 countries
around the world.

world’s 25 largest pension plans.1 The future looks
even brighter—thanks to our multi-boutique strategy
and global distribution platform.
