Accelerating selection and concentration in areas of com-
petitive advantage while boosting product capability and
sales force through alliances
The telecom systems business consists of two parts. The first is the tele-
com carrier systems business, which serves telecom carriers by providing
communication equipment, etc. to support network infrastructures that
form the backbone of society. The other is the enterprise systems busi-
ness, which serves enterprises by providing communication systems that
converge voice and video, such as IP-PBX, call center systems, and video-
conferencing systems.
In the telecom carrier systems business, we offer high-performance,
high-reliability carrier-grade communication servers, including server prod-
ucts that enable new telecom carrier IMS*1services, as well as SBC*2
services to achieve seamless service linkage between telecom carriers. We
also offer GE-PONs*3to support expansion of broadband environments, as
well as devices for existing networks. Going forward, we will draw on OKI’s
network-related technologies and know-how to provide highly efficient
operation of existing networks, as well as network migration. At the same
time, we will conduct business activities based on customer needs with a
view to expanding new services using customers’ equipment.
In the enterprise systems business, we seize business opportunities
arising from the increased use of IP networks to offer competitive products
and services in this field. Recently, we formed a strategic alliance with
Panasonic System Networks Co., Ltd., covering IP-PBXs and other aspects
of the domestic IP telephony field. Through this alliance, we plan to
strengthen our business in such areas as product capability and sales
force, and thus expand market share. We also made OKI Wintech into a
wholly owned subsidiary. The aim of this move is to further reinforce
Group operations while addressing customer needs by delivering “one-
stop” services covering a system’s overall life cycle from development and
equipment sales to system planning, maintenance through to operation.
