Our fiscal year ends on the Friday nearest to June 30 and typically consists of 52 weeks. Approximately every five
years, we report a 53-week fiscal year to align our fiscal year with the foregoing policy. The additional week is typically
included in our fourth fiscal quarter results. Fiscal year 2010, which ended on July 2, 2010, was comprised of 52 weeks.
Fiscal years 2009 and 2008, which ended on July 3, 2009, and June 27, 2008, respectively, were comprised of 53 weeks
and 52 weeks, respectively. Unless otherwise indicated, references herein to specific years and quarters are to our fiscal
years and fiscal quarters, and references to financial information are on a consolidated basis. As used herein, the terms
“we,” “us,” “our,” the “Company” and “WD” refer to Western Digital Corporation and its subsidiaries.
We are a Delaware corporation that operates as the parent company of our hard drive business, Western Digital
Technologies, Inc., which was formed in 1970.
