Brand New
Ef ciencies
One of Spectrum Brands’ core compe-
tencies lies in our ability to manage
operations effectively while maintaining
a constant focus on cost reduction.
We leveraged these skills in fi scal 2005,
when we acquired United Industries
and Tetra and began to integrate them
into our growing enterprise. We have
already begun to achieve brand new
effi ciencies with the goal of realizing
$100 million in annualized cost savings.
We made signifi cant headway this
year in the integration of United Indus-
tries into our North American business
unit, merging the sales and marketing
organizations and integrating fi nance,
information services, customer service,
and legal and corporate accounting func-
tions. As part of our three year plan to
rationalize facilities in North America, we
consolidated a number of manufactur-
ing and distribution locations. We also
created a new Global Pet Group through
the combination of United Pet Group and
Tetra, which will function as a separate,
autonomous business segment in order
to focus on signifi cant growth opportu-
nities in this category. Our vision is to
create an integrated global operations
platform for Spectrum Brands, with a
simplifi ed and highly effi cient sourcing,
manufacturing and distribution network.
