2015 POLARIS INDUSTRIES INC. ANNUAL REPORT 21
>> Produce locally
We now have seven in-house and two contract
manufacturing facilities internationally,
allowing us to meet local production
requirements, respond faster to the market-
place and get vehicles to customers faster.
Our plant in Opole, Poland is already
producing most of our European adult
O-Road Vehicles (ORVs). In2015, we began
producing All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) in
Monterrey, Mexico to serve Latin America. We
also acquired the Hammerhead brand of ORVs
in China, giving us a local manufacturing
facility in Shanghai and a platform for future
development in the high-potential market.
>> Capture more of the Motorcyclepotential
Outside the United States, the Motorcycle
market potential is much larger and more
developed than the o-road market. And the
Indian Motorcycle brand remains an iconic
brand throughout the world. So when we
launched the mid-size Indian Scout in Europe
in2014, the business grew dramatically.
Within a year, Scout was our No. 1-selling
motorcycle internationally—contributing to
a 40percent increase in our International
Motorcycle sales in2015. We’re building on
Scout’s success by adding the Scout® Sixty
and expanding our global dealer network.
Slingshot dropped jaws around the world
when we launched it in North America in2014.
So it wasn’t surprising that it gained a lot of
attention when we launched it in Europe and
the Middle East in late2015. We’re confident
Slingshot will do well in Mexico, too, as we
ramp up shipments there in2016.
>> Leverage new markets
We started with 30dealers when we launched
our innovative Multix—India’s first three-
in-one personal utility vehicle. By2020, we
expect to have more than 200. The street-
legal product was well received, and should
do even better as we learn themarket and
respond to initial consumer feedback. Once
we perfect the business in India, we’ll export
it to Southeast Asia andAfrica.
>> Leverage o-road hotbeds
We’re putting greater focus on markets that
support the ORV culture, such as Mexico.
With ample riding areas, RZR has become
our most popular ORV in Mexico. We’re
building on its appeal with strong marketing
programs, competitive pricing and direct
sales. And we’re getting the product to
market quickly, thanks to our Monterrey
manufacturing facility. As a result, RZR sales
have tripled in Mexico the past three years.
