Strong performance in a
weak credit economy
Despite฀challenging฀economic฀conditions,฀
a฀strong฀and฀deliberate฀focus฀on฀broad-
ening฀and฀deepening฀our฀offerings฀with฀
a฀supplementary฀focus฀on฀strengthening฀
our฀portfolio฀enabled฀Equifax฀to฀deliver฀im-
proved฀nancial฀performance฀in฀all฀ve฀of฀
our฀business฀units.฀We฀generated฀$1.86฀
billion฀in฀revenue฀with฀an฀operating฀margin฀
of฀23.1฀percent฀and฀diluted฀earnings฀per฀
share฀of฀$1.86฀from฀continuing฀operations.
The฀strength฀of฀our฀balance฀sheet฀al-
lowed฀us฀to฀continue฀strategically฀building฀
and฀rebalancing฀our฀capabilities฀with฀high-
value฀acquisitions฀and฀selective฀divesti-
tures฀supplementing฀continued฀investment฀
in฀organic฀growth.฀In฀October,฀we฀acquired฀
Anakam,฀a฀leading฀provider฀of฀identity฀au-
thentication฀solutions.฀Anakam฀holds฀a฀
strong฀position฀in฀the฀government฀and฀
healthcare฀markets,฀both฀of฀which฀are฀฀
targeted฀markets฀for฀Equifax.฀The฀acqui-
sition฀added฀important฀and฀unique฀ca-
pabilities฀that฀will฀help฀us฀address฀new฀
opportunities฀and฀achieve฀our฀strategic฀
growth฀targets.฀Earlier฀in฀the฀year,฀we฀di-
vested฀two฀non-core฀businesses฀in฀loan฀
origination฀software฀and฀direct฀mail฀mar-
keting,฀reinvesting฀the฀proceeds฀in฀growth฀
areas฀and฀returning฀cash฀to฀our฀sharehold-
ers฀through฀share฀repurchase.
