AND COMMERCIAL CUSTOMERS
11
With FAA certifi cation of the 429 model (left) expected in the 2008-2009 timeframe, Bell Helicopter is solidifying its position
as the world’s pre-eminent provider of vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. Bell segment employees take great pride in knowing
that their products help save lives—from Bell Helicopter’s V-22 (lower left) and Textron Systems’ Armored Security Vehicle
(center) for the military to helicopters used commercially for emergency response and search-and-rescue missions.
This strength has helped Bell post one of the lowest voluntary
turnover rates in its industry.
Textron Systems continued to grow in 2007 with the delivery of a
record 576 Armored Security Vehicles (ASV); the awarding of a
$24 million NASA contract to develop and test heat shield materials
for the Orion spacecraft; and the securing of a U.A.E. Armed Forces
contract for delivery of Sensor Fuzed Weapons starting in 2008.
Thanks to the 2007 integration of Overwatch Geospatial Opera-
tions and Tactical Operations, Textron Systems has expanded
its product portfolio with intelligence software solutions.
This software distills and integrates intelligence from multiple
sources to help end users, such as war fi ghters and counter-
terrorism analysts, make real-time decisions.
From deployment of the revolutionary V-22 tiltrotor and delivery
of 10 H-1 attack and utility helicopters to a solid increase in com-
mercial deliveries, Bell made some great advancements in 2007.
On the customer service front, Aviation International News’
2007 Product Support Survey ranked Bell Helicopter as the
top rotorcraft manufacturer in the world. With 140 customer
support facilities around the globe, Bell Helicopter has the
largest global network of any vertical lift manufacturer, and its
worldwide footprint is expected to continue to expand in 2008.
The business also took pride in being recognized by Aviation
Week magazine as one of the nation’s top 10 aviation and
defense companies in the area of professional development.
