That plant has also been able to halve the amount of space
required to produce these aircraft, allowing Cessna to devote
the rest of the facility to manufacturing the Citation Mustang
with minimal investment in additional production capacity.
The company’s continued efforts to improve its already award-
winning service and support bore even more fruit in 2007.
When NetJets opted to add 93 jets to its fractional ownership
eet, the company placed its order worth nearly $1 billion
– with Cessna. Why? NetJets cited the Citation’s dispatch
reliability and quality of service, as well as its customers’ long-
standing brand preference for Citations.
Cessna Aircraft achieved some major milestones during 2007
from its 80th anniversary to the delivery of its 5,000th Citation
business jet. Most important, the company delivered a record
387 jets, brought exciting new offerings to market and saw its
year-end backlog rise to $12.6 billion.
Cessna also continued to expand its worldwide presence in key
markets, a move that will help drive signifi cant global growth
in 2008 and beyond.
Successful implementation of Lean manufacturing techniques
has allowed Cessna to ramp production across its product
lines. At its plant in Independence, Kansas, the company has
reduced the amount of time it takes to manufacture single
engine piston aircraft by 28 percent over the past two years.
JETS AND EXPANDING WORLDWIDE REACH
From the Citation Sovereign (left), one of its cornerstone products, to the new Citation Mustang (center), Cessna’s fl eet of business
