A chunk of coal, a cubic foot of natural gas or pellet of uranium can produce only so
much energy. So, how do we maximize the energy we produce? We put more into it.
Operating our plants and electric and gas delivery assets at a high standard involves
many things — the teamwork of highly skilled people, careful preparation and planning,
constant care and attention to detail, and first and foremost, a bedrock commitment
to safety.
PSEG has been able to make our assets work harder because of our commitment to high
performance standards.
Take our large domestic generation business, PSEG Power. Its fleet uses nuclear, steam,
combustion turbine, combined cycle and pumped storage technologies to meet vital
energy needs, year round and around the clock.
As evidence of our focus on continuous improvement, we set new company records
for electricity output in 2006. The Salem and Hope Creek nuclear units in southern
New Jersey anchored this strong performance — and our fossil units also did their part
by achieving strong availability, especially during hot summer days.
Solid, well-run assets enable us to produce more abundant, low-cost and environmen-
tally responsible energy for New Jersey and the region — benefiting our many stakeholders
and the world around us.
