12 Annual Report 2011
In the printers business, OKI specializes in business-use
machines, deploying its renowned expertise in LED technolo-
gies to make color and monochrome NIPs*1, MFPs*2, and
SIDMs*3to customers in 120 countries around the world.
Since printers were initially developed, OKI has focused
its attention on the superior advantages of LED technolo-
gies. In 1981, we developed the world’s first printer using
LEDs as the light source. Compared with the laser method
used by our competitors, these products have superior
advantages in terms of compact design, high speed, and
high resolution. They are also capable of printing on long
sheets of paper and can handle a diversity of media.
Drawing on the high reliability of LED printers, OKI cre-
ated the COREFIDO brand for the Japanese market—the
first in the industry with a free five-year warranty.
Regarding sales strategies, in addition to focusing on
MFPs we will work to increase machine sales and expand
our MPS*4business to address demand for printing services
and the changing needs of customers, from possession to
usage. We will target sales growth and further expansion of
market share in our priority markets by strengthening our
sales structure in our leading markets. In addition to these
initiatives, we will develop new offerings based on LED
technologies amassed in our printer business.
OKI is committed to providing highly reliable LED printers
to customers around the world in its quest to enhance busi-
ness efficiency and create comfortable office environments.

Leveraging the exceptional design and manufacturing
technologies of the OKI Group, we develop high-end
electronic manufacturing services as the virtual factory
of our customers.
The EMS business provides consigned manufacturing serv-
ices covering mechatronics and electronics components
underpinned by design and manufacturing technologies and
a proven track record amassed over more than 100 years in
the info-telecom field. In this business, we offer one-stop
EMS solutions, from development to mass production,
according to the conceptual and requirement specifications
of our customers.
Our EMS business enables us to address diversified
requirements for high-end products in every field, character-
ized by high-quality, high-reliability, and a wide variety of
products in small quantities. OKI is particularly strong in two
areas: mechatronics products that require high-precision
mechanisms, and products that require high-speed process-
ing based on large-scale and multiple-layer substrates.
Based on our extensive experience in printed substrate
technologies, we offer high-resolution, high-precision multi-
layer substrates. We also provide embedded component
module substrates with three-dimensional structures,
enabling components to be embedded to meet the demand
for high-performance, compact electronic devices. We offer
these substrates in an integrated framework, covering
design through to testing.
In the EMS business, we regard ourselves as the “vir-
tual factory” of our customers and they can trust us with
the production of their devices, which require high reliabil-
ity. Based on this belief, we deliver comprehensive
monozukuri” (manufacturing) solutions in the fields of
communications equipment, measuring instruments,
industrial instruments, and medical equipment.
High-end Type EMS Business
Using advanced design and manufacturing technologies amassed in the
info-telecom fields, OKI provides one-stop EMS solutions delivering top-quality,
highly reliable products.
