The liquidity of our shares remained at a high level in 2008. On average, 744,506 shares
were traded daily. High liquidity makes Merck shares attractive for more investors.
At the end of 2008, Merck again ranked 24th in the DAX® with respect to market capi-
talization, and 30th once again with respect to average share trading volumes.
