Information Systems
and Technology
Information Systems and Technology continued to
tailor its portfolio, expand its diverse customer base
and achieve key milestones on core programs in
2010. We demonstrated how our Joint Tactical
Radio System (JTRS), together with the Warfighter
Information Network - Tactical (WIN-T), can
seamlessly connect command posts, on-the-move
forces and dismounted soldiers, increasing their
communications capabilities and access to data
in combat situations. Our highly flexible open
architecture-based naval combat system was
validated by our selection as the systems integrator
for Independence-class littoral combat ships. Our
United Kingdom business was awarded the Specialist
Vehicle contract, for the next-generation of British
fighting vehicles, based on our proven design and
experience as a vehicle systems integrator. As a
prime contractor at the Department of Defense
Cyber Crime Center and the Department of
Homeland Security’s U.S. Computer Emergency
Readiness Team, demand for the group’s expertise
in cyber security continues to grow. In addition,
our information technology (IT) services business
provided mission-critical support services and
expanded its relationships with existing and new
customers, including the U.S. Departments of
Homeland Security and Health and Human Services,
the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Missile
Defense Agency, the Army and the Air Force.
General Dynamics’ innovative information backbone
for USS Independence (above) features “any display,
anywhere” access to the ship’s control systems, giving
the crew exceptional flexibility in meeting mission
requirements. Our EDGE® Innovation Network (left)
reduces the time it takes to get new technologies to
warfighters. The new GD300 rugged computer (middle)
connects with tactical radios like the JTRS Rifleman for
secure access to tactical networks. Our experience as
a prime contractor for the Defense Cyber Crime Center
(right) helped us maintain a market-leading position in
cyber security.
