Commentary
• Single-family serious delinquency rates in the U.S. continued to decline due to macroeconomic
factors, such as decreased unemployment rates and continued home price appreciation.
• The U.S. single-family mortgage debt outstanding increased in 2015 compared to 2014, which
resulted in an increase in the supply of loans available for us to purchase.
• As reported by the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. homeownership rate was 63.8% in the fourth
quarter of 2015, compared to a high point of 69.2% in the fourth quarter of 2004, and the average of
66.2% since 1990.
