LEADING THE WAY
We are often first in markets.
AIG has long been a pioneer
within the insurance and
financial services industry, well-
known for entering new markets ahead
of its peers. The company is constantly
evaluating growth areas for possible
expansion and developing innovative new
products and services to meet evolving
customer needs. A strong entrepreneurial
spirit, which is ever-present at all levels
of the organization, allows us to capitalize
on opportunities swiftly and follow them
through to fruition.
In the past year, AIG expanded
operations into several emerging markets
such as Vietnam, Latvia, Lithuania and
the Republic of Georgia, and launched
a number of first-of-its-kind product offer-
ings, including a comprehensive business
travel insurance policy in India. Milestones
and market firsts such as these are illustra-
tive of AIG’s long-term focus on maximiz-
ing shareholder value, not only for today,
but for future generations as well.

AIG’s Domestic Brokerage Group introduced 20 new products in the U.S. property-casualty market during 2005, with many more in the pipeline
at year end. We also received permission to establish life insurance branch offices in Latvia and Lithuania. ILFC is the first and only
lessor to date to offer the new Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger airliner. In 2005, we opened a branch office in Tbilisi, Georgia, and now
have General Insurance operations in 13 countries in the Central Europe and C.I.S. region.
