Sonic
Bel Air, a town of about 10,500 people
located less than 30 miles northeast of
Baltimore, is a perfect place for a small-
format Sonic Drive-In. With 16 drive-in
spaces instead of the typical 20 to 36
found at most larger Sonic Drive-Ins, it fits
neatly on a lot that is 25 to 40 percent
smaller than usual. Even with its reduced
size, this drive-in is booming, with no
sacrifice in brand perception. In fact,
the franchisee has found that with its
re-engineered kitchen, food orders are
prepared and delivered as fast or faster
than at a traditional Sonic Drive-In, using
less labor for greater operational efficiency.
