In April 2010, Pioneer established a new corpo-
rate vision: “Spread the smiles. Feel the vibes.
Share the passion. Pioneer engages you anytime,
anywhere. This corporate vision is our guideline
for returning Pioneer to a growth path by clearly
defining who we want to be as a company in the
target year of 2015, from five perspectives: rela-
tionships with customers; company, employees
and corporate culture; products and value propo-
sitions; relationships with society and business
partners; and our presence on the street, in the
car and at home.
Feature: Growth Strategy
From Restructuring to
a Medium- and Long-term
Growth Stage
As a roadmap for achieving its vision, Pioneer has established a growth strategy and a medium-term plan
for the three years through fiscal 2013, ending March 31, 2013, as follows. The Car Electronics business,
which accounts for approximately 60% of Pioneer’s sales in fiscal 2010, saw major structural changes
take place in the auto industry on a global scale. For example, in 2009 China surpassed the U.S. to
become the world’s largest auto market in terms of sales volume. In the Home Electronics business, the
Chinese market is also expected to see substantial growth. Meanwhile, in maturing markets such as
Japan, North America and Europe, we expect the creation of new markets using cutting-edge technolo-
gies and competition for market share to intensify further. Looking ahead, after ensuring that we improve
profitability in existing businesses through business restructuring, we are determined to steer the Com-
pany in the direction of future growth and expansion. In accordance with the five key themes of our
growth strategy, we aim to drive business expansion by prioritizing the allocation of business resources
to businesses where future growth is anticipated. In this feature, we explain Pioneer’s growth strategy
and medium-term plan at these times of significant change.
