Purchases of Equity Securities.
Market Information
For information regarding the markets in which Mattel’s common stock, par value $1.00 per share, is traded,
see the cover page hereof. For information regarding the high and low closing prices of Mattel’s common stock
for the last two calendar years, see Item 8 “Financial Statements and Supplementary Data—Note 17 to the
Consolidated Financial Statements—Quarterly Financial Information.”
Holders of Record
As of February 22, 2010, Mattel had approximately 36,000 holders of record of its common stock.
Dividends
In 2009, 2008, and 2007, Mattel paid a dividend per share of $0.75 to holders of its common stock. The
Board of Directors declared the dividends in November, and Mattel paid the dividends in December of each year.
The payment of dividends on common stock is at the discretion of the Board of Directors and is subject to
customary limitations.
Recent Sales of Unregistered Securities
During the fourth quarter of 2009, Mattel did not sell any unregistered securities.
Issuer Purchases of Equity Securities
During 2009, Mattel did not repurchase any shares of its common stock. During 2008, Mattel repurchased
4.9 million shares at a cost of $90.6 million. During 2007, Mattel repurchased 35.9 million shares at a cost of
$806.3 million. During 2008 and 2007, the Board of Directors authorized Mattel to increase its share repurchase
program by $500.0 million and $750.0 million, respectively. At December 31, 2009, share repurchase
authorizations of $410.3 million had not been executed. Repurchases will take place from time to time,
depending on market conditions. Mattel’s share repurchase program has no expiration date.
