Printer Business
Inkjet printers
The inkjet printer business is Epson’s largest business
on a revenue basis. Employing its proprietary Micro
Piezo technology in its products, Epson continues to
lead the market in photo-quality inkjet printers.
With the exception of Asia, sales volumes of inkjet
printers in the period under review were down in all
regions. The market situation remained severe as
competitors claimed market share by launching new
low-priced models and rolled out aggressive sales
campaigns. The trend towards multifunction printers
(all-in-ones) with scanner and copier functions also
persisted. Against this background, Epson continued to
pursue a policy of concentrating its sales efforts on
profitable models with high print volumes.
