Look at our divisions.
Design Solutions Group
Net revenues for the Design Solutions Group
(DSG)—comprising the Platform Technology
Division, Manufacturing Solutions Division,
Infrastructure Solutions Division and Building
Solutions Division—reached $1.077 billion in fiscal
2005, an increase of 32 percent over fiscal 2004.
DSG operating income increased 42 percent over
fiscal 2004, to $495 million. Our DSG customers
crave new functionality and better performance
to drive increased productivity and profitability,
resulting in a competitive advantage. In fiscal 2005
we shipped new releases for all our products,
including our entire family of AutoCAD products.
We shipped Autodesk Inventor Series, Autodesk
Inventor Professional, Autodesk AutoCAD Revit
Series and important new functionalities with
Autodesk Vault. In addition, we introduced several
new strategic products during the year: Autodesk
Productstream, Autodesk Civil 3D and Autodesk
DWF Composer.
Platform Technology Division (PTD) saw net
revenues grow 27 percent over fiscal 2004 to
$615 million. From concept modeling to drawing
production, PTD offers our most flexible, general-
purpose design and documentation tools. Whether
our customers work with a single detail drawing or
an entire set of drawings, they can easily create,
manage and share crucial design data, which
can dramatically elevate productivity. Demand
for AutoCAD software increased, as customers
recognized the improved productivity and quick
return on investment it delivers.
According to a University of California, Berkeley,
study, “the latest release of Autodesk’s flagship
software, AutoCAD 2005, saves nearly two working
days per week when compared to previous ver-
sions.” Supporting this is the outstanding growth
of net revenues for AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT,
which increased nearly 30 percent over fiscal 2004,
proving that our flagship products continue to
be a growth driver for us. With a commitment to
continue providing solutions that help customers
be more productive, we leveraged our position as
the leader in digital design data and introduced
Autodesk DWF Composer, the all-digital way to
review, mark up and revise 2D and 3D designs
without the original design creation software.
Our Manufacturing Solutions Division (MSD)
had an outstanding year and saw net revenues
grow 43 percent over fiscal 2004 to $200 million. In
fiscal 2005, we continued to enhance our position
as the industry leader in this important market.
Our Autodesk Inventor line of products, comprised
of Autodesk Inventor Series and Autodesk Inventor
Professional, was the world’s best-selling 3D
mechanical design software for the fourth con-
secutive year. We also saw continued adoption of
Autodesk Vault, which is integrated into Autodesk
Inventor, as well as our other manufacturing design
products. Vault makes managing design data easier
and helps customers move toward a complete,
practical lifecycle management solution.
