Breakthroughs
Break Through
When major improve-
ments are developed for
cars, they usually begin
as premium features on
a few luxury models.
As manufacturing tech-
nology brings down
costs, the breakthrough
can break through
to become available in
a wide range of cars.
That’s the drama now
unfolding in the case
of the high-performance
aluminum body struc-
tures Alcoa has helped
to develop for the Audi
A8, Plymouth Prowler
and Ferrari 360 Modena.
