The transactions with non-controlling interests are accounted for as transactions with equity owners of the Group. Gains or
losses on transaction with holders of non-controlling interests which does not result in the change of control are recorded
in equity. The carrying value of the reserve as of March 31, 2012 and March 31, 2011 is ` 36,056 Mn and ` 36,156 Mn,
respectively.

(iv) Foreign currency translation reserve
Foreign currency translation reserve represents exchange differences arising from the translation of the financial statements
of foreign subsidiaries.
During the year ended March 31, 2012, with respect to loan to its certain foreign subsidiaries, the Group has re-assessed
the funding requirements of these subsidiaries and accordingly amended the loan terms and re-designated these as
permanent funding. Accordingly, these have been treated as part of its net investment in foreign operations in accordance
with IAS 21 for recognition of foreign exchange differences. The exchange gain/loss arising on these loans from the date of
such re-assessment has been recognised in other comprehensive income in the consolidated financial statements. Exchange
loss of ` 24 Mn has been recognised in profit or loss for the year ended March 31, 2012 (Exchange loss of ` 771 Mn for the
year ended March 31, 2011). Exchange loss of ` 1,617 Mn have been recognised in other comprehensive income for the year
ended March 31, 2012 (Exchange loss of ` Nil for the year ended March 31, 2011).
