Each Federat ed depart ment st ore division is

The company believes in giving back t o t he

and sust enance. Federat ed underst ands t hat

In 2001, cash cont ribut ions t o charit able
organizat ions by Federat ed, it s divisions and
subsidiaries including t hose made by t he
Federat ed Depart ment Stores Foundat ion
t ot aled approximat ely $15.2 million.
Part ners in Time, t he company’s nat ionally
recognized employee volunt eer program,
involves all divisions and support operat ions.
In 2001, more t han 68,800 volunt eers gave
nearly 116,000 hours of t ime t ouching
nearly every segment of American society.
DIVERSITY
As t he leading retailer in some of America’s
largest and most diverse met ropolit an areas,

ranks, 68 percent of our execut ives are
women and 23 percent are racial minorit ies.
This makes Federated among t he leaders in
diversit y in our industry, as well as among
major U.S. corporat ions.
Addit ionally, Federateds vendor development
program seeks t o source goods and services
eit her f or resale or in support of business
operat ions f rom qualif ied minorit y- and
women- owned ent erprises. In 2001, t hese
purchases t ot aled approximately $300 million.
