Hitachi High-Technologies’ Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopes
Hitachi High-Technologies’ SU8000 series of fi eld emission scanning electron
microscopes (SEMs) offer a wide variety of applications including observation
of the fi ne surface structure of materials across a broad spectrum of semicon-
ductor device, advanced nanotechnology material and pharmaceutical fi elds.
Hitachi Medical’s MRI System
Hitachi Medical’s Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems combine the
company’s accumulated advanced MRI technology know-how with cutting-
edge technology development to deliver high-defi nition diagnostic images in
an easy-to-operate package. Looking ahead, the company will continue to
provide products that address customer needs to the medical frontline.
Segment revenues increased 2% year over year to
¥1,101.7 billion on the back of higher sales of semicon-
ductor manufacturing and medical-related equipment.
Segment profi t surged 34% year over year to 49.9 bil-
lion owing mainly to higher sales and successful efforts
to reduce costs.

쎲 Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation established PT.
Hitachi High-Technologies Indonesia in September 2011
with the aim of expanding business in Indonesia.
쎲 Hitachi Medical Corporation decided to construct a new fac-
tory in Suzhou, China in May 2011 in order to boost produc-
tion of medical diagnostic equipment for emerging countries.
쎲 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc. converted Linear
Equipamentos Eletrônicos S/A, a Brazil-based manufactur-
er of broadcast transmitters, into a subsidiary in October
2011 for the purpose of further globalizing its terrestrial dig-
ital broadcasting equipment business.
