22 Ford Motor Company | 2011 Annual Report
from 1,200 during
the past six years
BETTER WORLD
Creating a better world is hard work. It takes heart, determination, sweat
and teamwork. It takes the Ford Volunteer Corps. More than 12,000 Ford
employees and retirees came together on six continents for Ford Global Week
of Caring. For the sixth straight year, volunteers picked up paint brushes and
hammers, shovels and wheelbarrows to tackle community projects and make
a world of difference for people in need. Employees at Ford dealerships also
answered the call to help, putting teams of Ford volunteers on the job in
45 countries from Europe and Asia to Africa and the Americas.
Ford volunteers are on the job in communities throughout the year, but
when employees around the world come together as One Ford during Ford
Global Week of Caring, it’s a powerful force for good in any language. During
the past six years, the number of Ford volunteers participating has grown
from 1,200 to more than 12,000. In the United States, more than 1,000 Ford
volunteers in 19 states stepped away from their desks and workstations and
into dozens of community building projects on a Ford Accelerated Action Day
during the Global Week of Caring.
1) Ford employees and volunteers join forces the world over to work to create a better world. 2) Ford Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) visits high schools across the United
States. The mobile tour features specially-equipped vehicles and professional instructors who deliver a variety of activities that help young drivers develop important
skills. Ford DSFL is in its fifth year training newly-licensed drivers in Asia, with programs in China, India, Taiwan, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines,
Indonesia and Malaysia. DSFL programs are tailored in each of these markets to reflect the local driving environment and road conditions. 3) Ford Motor Company
will mark its 17th year of support for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® breast cancer awareness event. Ford has dedicated more than $110 million to the cause.
