ANNUAL VOLUME

3.5L V6 355-365 250,000

1) The key to the EcoBoost system is the harmony
between the turbochargers and the direct
injection fuel system. They recover energy from
the exhaust that otherwise would have been
wasted and put it back in the engine to gain
efficiency. 2) The high performance Taurus SHO
is just one application of the popular EcoBoost
technology. 3) Ford launches production of
the Focus with 1.0-liter EcoBoost, the most
fuel-efficient gas-powered Ford ever, in Saarlouis,
Germany. 4) Alan Mulally, President and CEO,
shows his appreciation for the newest addition to
the EcoBoost family: the all-new, small but
powerful 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine.

THE POWER OF CHOICE
With record sales of EcoBoost -powered vehicles in 2011,
Ford will triple production capacity of this fuel-saving
technology for 2012, further equipping its customers with
the Power of Choice.
In Europe, we started volume production of an all-new,
small but powerful 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine. This newest
addition to the EcoBoost family uses turbocharging
and direct injection alongside a range of other advanced and
innovative technologies to deliver the power and performance
of a traditional 1.6-liter engine but with significantly improved
fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.
Production of the all-new 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is
made possible through investment in a cutting-edge facility
that features the latest technology.
In North America, Edge and Explorer opened the next
chapter in the EcoBoost strategy as the first vehicles to
offer a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, taking fuel efficiency for
utility customers to an unprecedented level. And later this
year, EcoBoost’s expanded availability in the high-volume
Fusion and Escape means hundreds of thousands of
drivers will be able to get the power they want and the fuel
efficiency they need.
Creating the output of a larger powerplant but using
smaller displacement, the powerful and fuel-efficient
3.5-liter EcoBoost engine now accounts for more than
40 percent of F-150 retail sales after being on the market
for only about one year.
By 2013, 90 percent of our vehicles in North America
and 80 percent globally will be offered with EcoBoost.
Our Power of Choice is not limited to EcoBoost.
We are also expanding other fuel-efficient offerings this
year with additional electrified vehicles and the
introduction of automatic start-stop technology paired
with the convenience of an automatic transmission.
Along with such premium technology, our customers
are also being offered additional comfort and convenience
features, making an expanded array of choice the hallmark
of the Ford showroom for 2012.
