to be a global company?
What does it mean
10 Emerson 2004
Global companies do more than just sell products around the world. Being
global means creating value for customers by combining industry expertise and
deep knowledge of local markets with a responsive, world-class supply chain.
It means building global product platforms that can be tailored for each local
market and keeping product development, manufacturing, and sourcing close
to customers to offer better service – wherever they are.
Edward L. Monser
Chief Operating Officer
Truly global companies win, and so do
their customers. Today, nearly half of
Emerson’s sales come from outside of
the United States. To effectively serve
our worldwide customers, we’ve placed
our product development, manufactur-
ing, and service facilities close to them.
This approach lowers costs for us as well
as for our customers, and it is fundamen-
tal to our success in serving high-growth,
emerging markets such as Eastern
Europe, Russia, and China. Just as impor-
tant, our ability to share our advanced
industry knowledge across borders
allows us to extend our brand leadership
and provide leading-edge solutions
anywhere in the world. And we’re doing
it in the most efficient way possible,
thanks to our recent efforts to rebalance
assets and expertise across the globe.
Why does it matter?
