We have tax deductions from stock-based compensation that exceed the stock-based compensation recorded for such instruments. To the extent
such excess tax benefits are ultimately realized, they will increase shareholders' equity. We utilize the with-and without approach in determining if and
when such excess tax benefits are realized, and under this approach excess tax benefits related to stock based compensation are the last to be realized.

Basic earnings (loss) per share is computed by dividing net income (loss) attributable to common shares by the weighted average number of
common shares outstanding during the period. Diluted earnings (loss) per share is computed by dividing net income (loss) attributable to common
shares for the period by the weighted average number of common and potential common shares outstanding during the period. Potential common
shares, comprising incremental common shares issuable upon the exercise of stock options, restricted stock awards and convertible senior notes are
included in the calculation of diluted earnings (loss) per common share to the extent such shares are dilutive.
The following table sets forth the computation of basic and diluted net income (loss) per common share for the periods indicated (in thousands,
except per share data):
The following shares were excluded from the calculation of diluted shares outstanding as their effect would have been anti-dilutive (in thousands):
