We’re bullish on the $3 billion web collaboration market and pleased with our trajectory. Our
growth is being driven by broad market forces, and we’re feeding that demand with a compelling
line of SaaS-based solutions that are both technically innovative and brilliantly simple to use.
Powering datacenters and clouds
Right now, no industry topic is getting more discussion than the cloud. While there’s always a
measure of hype in new ideas, there’s real substance here. It’s not just a trend, it’s the basis for the
virtual computing era and at the core of delivering IT-as-an-on-demand-service. The market potential
represents a multi-year, double-digit growth opportunity for NetScaler and XenServer. Our products
provide the cost efficiency, performance improvement, enhanced security and overall flexibility needed
to morph traditional datacenters and co-location facilities into private and public “clouds.” In 2009,
our Datacenter and Cloud Solutions products posted $241 million, up 16 percent, supported by the
introduction of innovative technologies, new business models and go-to-market partnerships.
Datacenters and clouds rely on high performance network connections that make hosted services
very fast, extremely secure, and always available. NetScaler continues to distinguish itself with these
capabilities, garnering significant share gains in the market. NetScaler MPX and VPX are not only
gaining share, they’re setting the agenda in the market. For the third year in a row, industry analysts
rate NetScaler a leader of the Application Delivery Controller market. This continues to be a two-
horse race. I really like our advantages.
Industry research shows more than 60 percent of virtualization customers now use multiple hypervisors
in production. Last year, XenServer captured an estimated 11 percent of newly virtualized servers
based on a bold strategy launched in 2009, making XenServer free. At the same time, XenServer
growth and our partnership with Microsoft is creating thousands of potential sockets for XenApp,
XenDesktop and our entire VPX line of app networking products.
We’re taking a more open approach to powering datacenters and clouds. Enterprise customers and
cloud service providers get interoperability between private and public clouds—without locking
them into any particular vendor. There’s tremendous white space for affordable, powerful, open
virtualization solutions in both private and public clouds.
Delivering and seizing the future
Last year, faced with unprecedented uncertainty, many companies hunkered down to ride out the
storm. Citrix took a different approach. We acted quickly to retool our cost structure, get more
competitive, make strategic investments, and double down on markets we believed were ripe for
rapid expansion as spending returns.
