BRINKER CULTURE |COMMUNITY SERVICE
to their collective support of Habitat For Humanity,
Macaroni Grill team members also played an important
role in their individual communities, as when volunteers
from their corporate office in Dallas helped distribute
groceries for the North Texas Food Bank at remote
distribution points.
ON THE BORDER
MEXICAN GRILL
& CANTINA
On The Border team
members raised a total of
$110,000 in 2005 for two
causes close to their hearts.
The On The Border Annual
Charity Golf Classic brought
in $70,000, while the Rock
Star Rumble, On The Border’s
annual charity bartender challenge, raised $40,000.
Part of the proceeds went to the Kenny Can Foundation for
Brain Cancer, named for Kenny Dennis, a 26-year Brinker
veteran and On The Border president who passed away
in 2002 from brain cancer; and part went to the Trinity
River Mission, a volunteer-based community learning
center serving children, youth and families in one of Texas’
poorest communities. On The Border team members
also contributed to their communities at the local level
by volunteering their time and donating food items to
worthy causes in their neighborhoods.
MAGGIANO’S LITTLE ITALY
This year, Maggiano’s brought in more than $100,000
for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, a charity that helps
children with life-threatening conditions fulfill their dreams.
Fund-raisers took place over a six-week period and included
Eat-A-Dish for Make-A-Wish, which gave guests the
option of purchasing a specially priced dessert to benefit
the foundation; Become a Star, which recognized each
donor with a star-
shaped cutout displayed
in the restaurant bearing
each guest’s name
and donation amount;
and Putt for a Great
Cause – a Father’s Day
promotion that invited fathers to donate $10 for the
opportunity to try to putt the most consecutive holes in
one and win a prize. Several Maggiano’s restaurants
also provide much-needed support for local charitable
organizations by offering banquet rooms for board
meetings or other events at a reduced rate or at no charge.
CORNER BAKERY CAFE
At Corner Bakery Cafe, each restaurant takes an active
role in supporting special causes in their neighborhoods.
This year was no exception. Employees in Dallas, Chicago,
and Washington, D.C., supported the Susan G. Komen
Race for the Cure®again by manning Survivor Tents
at each area race. And in May, Corner Bakery Cafe’s
Greater D.C. affiliates prepared and distributed 1,000 box
lunches for fund-raising cyclists and volunteers at the
Washington, D.C., Multiple Sclerosis MS 150 Bike Tour.
Dallas team members served breakfast to participants of
Camper Scamper, an event benefiting Camp John Marc for
kids with chronic illnesses. They also supported the Rise
Run, benefiting the Rise School of Dallas – a school that
delivers high quality early childhood educational services
geared toward children with developmental disabilities.
Other examples of local involvement included a food drive
benefiting Frisco Family Services, a donation of bread and
volunteers for a Meals on Wheels benefit in Chicago, and
ongoing support of local schools and
other youth organizations by supplying
refreshments for meetings and events,
as well as silent auction donations.
