Cardinal Health 2008 Annual Report
AVEA ventilators
Memorial Hermann, in Houston, Texas, uses AVEA
ventilators that can travel with a patient to and from
the OR and can continue to be used during surgery, so
there is uninterrupted and consistent ventilation for
the patient from bedside through procedure.
IMPRESS® Scan
IMPRESS® Scan surgical instrument management software
uses barcode technology to track a hospitals surgical
instruments to streamline processing, increase productivity
and decrease replacement costs. This real-time tracking
helped Dublin Methodist Hospital, in Dubin, Ohio, standardize
instrument inventory and manage it more e iciently.
Inventory turns. Stock outs. Keeping track of surgical supplies. These are a few things we do not want surgeons to worry about
when they are performing life saving procedures.
Since the implementation of Pyxis® supply technologies at South Georgia Medical Center, in Valdosta, Ga., improvements have
been achieved in the clinical workflow and medical supply organization to ensure essential supplies are ready to be used to save
lives – when and where they are needed.
Beyond supply automation, Cardinal Health offers surgical sponge tracking systems, the leading line of surgical instruments and
unique ventilator technology that may lead to fewer respiratory infections for surgical patients. The company’s Presource® o ering
combines core surgical components into customized procedure packs, which drives savings and e iciencies when compared to
picking single items for each surgery, and also helps to promote a safe and consistent standard of care. With the combination of
increased productivity and improved safety, Cardinal Health is essential to improving outcomes in the operating room.
